Michelle Hanks, Deputy Program Manager, Sarasota Resilient SRQ

Michelle Hanks joins GrantWorks with 12 years of environmental compliance and science experience. As the Deputy Program Manager of our Resilient SRQ program in Sarasota County, Florida, Michelle is responsible for managing Environmental Reviews under 24 CFR Part 58 to ensure Timeliness, Compliance, and Consistency across all Resilient SRQ program activities to ensure Sarasota communities are stronger and more resilient.

“I am thrilled at the opportunity to join GrantWorks. Coming from the public sector, I want to continue serving the community and making a positive impact. GrantWorks allows me to do that in a meaningful way,” said Michelle.

Prior to joining GrantWorks, Michelle served as a HUD Field Environmental Officer performing and managing the development of environmental compliance reviews, such as categorical exclusions, environmental assessments, and environmental impact statements for housing, community development, and federal assistance projects, under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 (83 Stat, 852) [42 U.S.C. 4321] and associated federal implementing regulations. Her specialized expertise in these areas make her the perfect deputy project manager for our Resilient SRQ contract in Sarasota, Florida.

“Our most recent Resilient SRQ contract with Sarasota County includes infrastructure projects that are complex with regard to environmental review and permitting. Michelle’s background with HUD and NEPA compliance make her uniquely qualified to assist The County with evaluation and management of project risks. We are very excited to have her on the team,” said Ken Pevovar, GrantWorks Resilient SRQ Program Manager.

Michelle’s previous positions include Environmental Impact Manager and Environmental Impact Specialist at the Louisiana Department of Transportation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Michelle is a U.S. Air Force veteran holds a Master and Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and is Secretary of Interior (SOI) Qualified.
