An Open Letter from Bruce Spitzengel, President and Founder of GrantWorks
As GrantWorks celebrates 47 years of service this September, I am reminded of how much can change over nearly five decades and how much has remained the same.
When I founded GrantWorks in 1979, our goal was straightforward: help communities access and manage the resources they needed to enhance quality of life for their residents. We started by providing Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) services to small Texas communities, and while our company has grown tremendously since then, the heart of #TheGrantWorksWay has never changed.
Today, GrantWorks is privileged to serve clients across the country, supporting infrastructure, housing, disaster recovery and resilience, economic development, community development, and environmental projects, to name a few. Over the years, we have assisted more than 725 governmental entities and helped secure and manage more than $12 billion in federal and state grant programs. Those numbers are certainly something to celebrate, but what matters most are the communities and people behind them.
This year alone, our teams have continued that tradition of impact, including the completion of the new Aransas County, Texas Community Center, the ribbon cutting of the Harvest House facility in Matagorda County, Texas. I am equally proud of the way our employees have represented GrantWorks throughout the year. Team members have attended conferences and industry events across the country, building relationships and strengthening the GrantWorks reputation. Just as importantly, our employees have continued giving back through volunteer service in their own communities, leveraging GrantWorks’ paid volunteer program to support causes and organizations that matter to them and consistently demonstrate what it means to put service first.
Looking ahead, I believe the future is brighter than ever. Communities across America continue to face challenges in all different fields, and yet these challenges create opportunities to make an even greater impact than ever before. GrantWorks remains committed to helping communities become stronger, smarter, and more resilient, just as we have for the past 47 years.
To our employees, clients, partners, and friends, thank you for being part of this journey. The work we do would not be possible without your commitment to excellence. I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together, and I look forward to what we will achieve in the years ahead.
